TROPHY CATFISHING - TROPHY BLUE CATFISH
ROD AND REEL FISHING FOR HUGE TEXAS BLUE CATFISH
TROPHY CATFISHING FOR BLUE CATFISH AVAILABLE NOVEMBER, DECEMBER, JANUARY, FEBRUARY AND EARLY MARCH

Trophy Catfishing is one of our most popular guided catfish fishing trips with North Texas Catfish Guide Service, as most people do not believe we can catch the sheer numbers of Monster Blue Catfish we catch on our Trophy Blue Catfish Fishing Trips.
Trophy Catfishing is one of our specialties targeting Blue Catfish. While we do catch good numbers of Trophy Blue Catfish all year long, there really is difficulty in the monster catfishing holding a consistant pattern during the warmer months, so if it's Trophy Catfish that your after there is a specific time of the year to book your guided catfish fishing trip for Trophy Catfish. We will always do our best to put you on big catfish if that is what you want to catch, but it is often a difficult task during the warmer months and results are varied, BUT during the cooler months, things are much much different.
Trophy Catfish Fishing trips are done during the months of November, December, January, and February during the "Cold Water Period" as Temperatures begin to drop in Texas in Late October and early November, the Trophy Catfishing heats up. We are blessed in North Texas with some very mild Temperatures so we generally have very mild winters (it's payback for the brutal summers). so even though it's winter, temperatures are usually quite comfortable.
Armed with heavy duty freshwater fishing tackle specialized for these big catfish, we go out in pursuit of the Trophy Blue Catfish. The Blue Catfish is a highly sought after Trophy Fish that has been caught in Texas up to 121Lbs. The Blue Catfish is often called a High Fin Blue Catfish or a Mississippi White Catfish in other parts of the United States.
During the "Trophy Catfish Season" we generally catch Blue Catfish in the 20 to 45 Lb Range, but catch many fish in the 45-50 Lb Range as well, and we even had a client break the Cedar Creek Lake Catfish record in 2006 with a 52.5 Lb Blue Catfish.
Trophy Blue Catfish fishing trips with North Texas Catfish Guide Service will average about 5-7 fish per trip between 20 and 40 lbs, but we have had days where we have caught as many as 30 Trophy Blue Catfish over 30 Lbs in one day.
On Trophy Blue Catfish fishing trips with North Texas Catfish Guide Service WE PRACTICE CATCH AND RELEASE ON ALL CATFISH OVER 10 LBS. Guided fishing trips for Trophy Catfish with North Texas Catfish Guide Service are true sport fishing trips and are not intended to be trips for catching "eating fish", if we do catch fish that are less than 10 lbs you are welcome to keep them, but we are dedicated to the conservation of the Trophy Blue Catfish. While Blue Catfish are known for their fast rates of growth It still takes a long time for these fish to reach Trophy Catfish Size, and the Trophy Blue Catfish are the larger genetically superior fish that keep the lakes populated with smaller catfish. Blue Catfish lay between 1,500 and 2,000 eggs per pound of body weight, so these Trophy Blue Catfish are no doubt important to the lakes catfish populations.
Guided catfish fishing trips for Trophy Blue Catfish with North Texas Catfish Guide Service are available on Lake Lewisville, Cedar Creek Lake, Richland Chambers Reservoir and Lake Texoma during November, December, Janauary, February and Early March. We recomend booking your Trophy Blue Catfish Fishing Trip early so you can be assured of a date as we get very busy during this time of year as most of our clients that come catch these big Trophy Catfish get "hooked" and come back year after year. Contact us regarding the availability of dates and lakes for your Trophy Catfish Fishing Trip.
WHILE TROPHY CATFISH CAN BE CAUGHT ALL YEAR LONG, OUR TROPHY BLUE CATFISH FISHING TRIPS WITH NORTH TEXAS CATFISH GUIDE SERVICE ARE AVAILABLE IN LATE NOVEMBER, DECEMBER, JANUARY, FEBRUARY AND EARLY MARCH. TROPHY CATFISH TRIPS ARE AVAILABLE ONLY AT LAKE LEWISVILLE, CEDAR CREEK LAKE, AND LAKE TEXOMA. LAKE TEXOMA GUIDED CATFISH FISHING TRIPS ARE SUBJECT TO SCHEDULING AVAILABILITY.

BLUE CATFISH FISHING TRIPS
FISHING FOR TEXAS BLUE CATFISH
BLUE CATFISH FISHING TRIPS ARE GOOD ALL YEAR LONG

North Texas Catfish Guide Service offers rod and reel fishing trips for Blue Catfish on several North Texas Lakes. The Blue Catfish is a very misunderstood fish and few individuals have knowledge of the feeding patterns and habits of these fish making them a very misunderstood species of fish. While many people associate fishing for catfish with Channel Catfish, it is actually our preference to fish for Blue Catfish on many of the lakes that we fish, rather than Channel Catfish, although there are some lakes we offer our guided catfish fishing trips on that have healthy poulations of Channel Catfish.
The Blue Catfish (also known as a High Fin Blue Catfish or a Mississippi White Catfish) is our "species of choice" on our guided catfish fishing trip for several reason. One reason being the Blue Catfish are a predator fish, unlike Channel Catfish which are scavenger fish which spend much of their lives feeding on moss, and other dead items on the bottom of the lakes, The Blue Catfish being a predator fish spends much of it's life chasing large schools of shad feeding on live baitfish.
This is not your grand daddy's catfishing. This is a whole new breed and technique of finding and catching catfish we use on our guided catfish fishing trips. We head out prior to our clients arrival and use our cast nets to catch fresh shad each day before our trips start, and use our Lowrance electronics to locate active feeding Blue Catfish on main lake structure, and we then anchor our fishing guide boat on these active feeding fish, casting our fresh caught shad into these schools of feeding fish and wait for them to bite, which usually does not take very long at all. Some days we locate just a few feeding fish at a time and have to hop from spot to spot to keep catching blue catfish, and some days we pull up and catch all everybody can catch without every moving.
The preference that we have for catching Blue Catfish over Channel Catfish is because of a few very basic reasons. Blue Catfish grow much larger in size that Channel Catfish do, so the overall size of the Blue Catfish is generally always much better than that of the Channel Catfish, When fishing for Blue Catfish (Except for during winter Trophy Blue Catfish Fishing Trips) most of the Catfish will average between 1 and 10 lbs, but we do catch fish larger than 10 lbs outside of the "winter trophy catfish season". Another preference for catching Blue Catfish over Channel Catfish is the bite. Channel Catfish have tendency to have a very light subtle bite that is often very hard to detect, but the Blue Catfish is very well known for it's agressive bite, because they usually hit hard and give you absolutely no doubt when they are on the other end of the line,
We use a number of different techniques for catching blue catfish but the majority of our fishing is targeted at locating Blue Catfish on our Lowrance sonar and anchoring in shallow water or on main lake structure but we also do some drift fishing for blue catfish and at certain times of the year we do some "splat fishing" (also known as cormorant catfishing or fishing the water turkeys). There are a number of different techniques and we will use the techniques that are most effective at the time of your guided catfish fishing trip with North Texas Catfish Guide Service.
Blue Catfish can be caught all year long. Just like with any other species of fish, there are certain times of the year that are better than others for catching blue catfish but as a general rule the blue catfish bites good all year long. Rod and Reel fishing for Blue Catfish in Texas is NOT limited to any certain time of the year like many people seem to believe.
Rod and Reel fishing for Blue Catfish is best on Lake Lewisville, Cedar Creek Lake, Richland Chambers, Limestone and Eagle Mountain Lake. Day or Night Fishing trips for Blue Catfish are available.

The Jones' from North Texas and their limit of Lake Lewisville Blue Catfish caught in 2.5 Hours while catfishing on Lake Lewisville with North Texas Catfish Guide Service. They also released numerous gaspergoo, longnose gar, snadbass and hybrid striped bass as well. This was a great day Fishing on Lake Lewisville with North Texas Catfish Guide Service.
CHANNEL CATFISH FISHING TRIPS
FISHING FOR TEXAS CHANNEL CATFISH
CHANNEL CATFISH FISHING TRIPS ARE AVAILABLE ALL YEAR LONG

North Texas Catfish Guide Service offers guided catfish fishing trips for Channel Catfish as well as Guide Fishing Trips for Blue Catfish. As you have likely already read, our preference is typically to fish for Blue Catfish but we also will fish for Channel Catfish on some of the North Texas area lakes we fish as soon of these lakes maintain better populations of Channel Catfish than Blue Catfish. Fishing for Blue Catfish is good almost all year long and fishing for Channel Catfish is good most of the year as well.
Our preference for catching Blue Catfish is because of a few simple reasons, and the first and foremost reason is that Blue Catfish typically are much larger than Channel Catfish overall. Channel Catfish populations simply don't grow to the sizes that Blue Catfish do. Channel Catfish also do not bite as agressive as Blue Catfish typically do. Blue Catfish are known for their very agressive bite and Channel Catfish typically have a much softer less agressive bite than the Blue Catfish.
Guided catfish fishing trips for Channel Catfish with North Texas Catfish Guide Service are subject to availability, so check with us on the best time to schedule a Channel Catfish fishing trip. Channel catfish fishing trips are best on Cedar Creek Lake, Eagle Mountain Lake, Lake Lewisville, Lake Fairfield, Lake Ray Roberts and the Brazos River.
Most of our guided Channel Catfish fishing trips will be done fishing over baited holes where we use Catfish Chum and fish with Catfish Punch Bait like Sure Shot Catfish Punch Bait, in addition to fishing baited holes for catfish we also use some techniques like "splat fishing" for Channel Catfish (also known as fishing the water turkeys or cormorants), doodlesocking for Channel Catfish and Drift Fishing for Channel Catfish.. We will fish for Channel catfish using ultralight tackle and typically can catch easy limits of Channel Catfish on our Guided Catfish Fishing Trips
FLATHEAD CATFISH FISHING TRIPS
ROD & REEL FISHING TEXAS FLATHEAD CATFISH
FLATHEAD CATFISH FISHING TRIPS AVAILABLE MAY, JUNE, JULY AUGUST AND SEPT.

North Texas Catfish Guide Service offers guided catfish fishing trips for Flathead Catfish on North Texas area lakes and rivers. North Texas Catfish Guide Service is proud to be one of the few fishing guide services that offers Rod and Reel Fishing Trips for Flathead Catfish, and we have a proven track record of success in catching BIG Texas Flathead Catfish (Yellow Catfish) on rod and reel.
The Flathead Catfish is a very ellusive fish and not many anglers catch these big catfish on Rod and Reel. Most Texas anglers that catch Flathead Catfish do so on Trotlines or Juglines.
Guided catfish Fishing Trips for Flathead Catfish are geared more towards the "sport fisherman" as Flathead Catfish fishing is not a fishing trip of Numbers, but the fish that are caught are usually BIG catfish ranging anywahere from 25-50 lbs, when targeting flathead catfish on our Guided catfish fishing trips anglers can expect to catch one to three Flathead Catfish in a night.
Guided Catfish fishing trips with North Texas Catfish Guide Service for Falthead Catfish (Yellow Catfish) are available from May through September only. We do not target Flathead Catfish during the cooler months because they are simply too unpredictable and do not bite well. If you want to catch a BIG Catfish during the cooler months you need to consider one of our Trophy Blue Catfish Fishing trips.
Flathead Catfish trips are offered on Lake Fairfield and The Brazos River and are offered as Night Fishing Trips Only. While fishing for Flathead Catfish we also have tendency to catch some larger Channel Catfish, some Blue Catfish, Alligator Gar, Longnose Gar, and Freshwater Redfish as well.
JUG FISHING FOR BLUE CATFISH WITH JUGLINES
JUG FISHING TRIPS ARE AVAILABLE JUNE, JULY, AUGUST AND SEPTEMBER ONLY AND ARE AVAILABLE ON A LIMITED BASIS.
Most of our customers prefer rod and reel fishing for Blue Catfish but there is a lot of interest from customers at different times of the year in Jug Fishing Trips, or catfishing for blue catfish with Juglines.
Jug fishing trips for blue catfish can be done during the day or at night. basically what happens on a Jug Fishing trip is we will go out the morning of the trip and set out the catfish juglines for jug fishing at different locations around the lake, and then depending on how steady the bite is, we will either go and rod and reel fish for catfish, white bass or hybrids for a while, and then go back and check the catfish juglines, do some more rod and reel fishing and then go back and check the catfish juglines again at the end of the catfishing trip. If the catfishing is really good, then the juglines will keep everyone on the guided catfishing trip busy the entire time we are fishing.
It is definately our preference at North Texas Catfish Guide Service to do our catfishing with rod and reel, but jug fishing is an exciting way of catfishing on our guided fishing trips for many people. Jug Fishing for blue catfish with Juglines on our guided catfish fishing trips are a great way for families to take their children on guided catfish fishing trips, especially for young children because there is lot's of action to keep them busy during the trip and children really love to pull the juglines into our catfishing boat, and it also usually gives us a way to do some rod and reel catfishing for Blue Catfish, Channel Catfish, Sandbass and Hybrid Striped Bass as well.
Just like all of our other guided catfish fishing trips, on our catfish jug fishing trips we release all catfish over 10 lbs after we take photographs.
For more information on Jug Fishing for Catfish with North Texas Catfish Guide Service call or email us for details and scheduling availability.
SANDBASS / WHITE BASS FISHING TRIPS
HYBRID STRIPED BASS FISHING TRIPS (HYBRIDS)

North Texas Catfish Guide Service offers guided fishing trips on North Texas area lakes for Sandbass (Sand Bass, Sandies, White Bass) and Hybrid Striped Bass (Hybrids, Hybrid Stripers, Wipers).
Most of the lakes that we offer our guide fishing trips for catfish on have good to excellent populations of Sandbass (Sand Bass, White Bass) and many of the lakes have good to excellent populations of (Hybrid Striped Bass).
Sand Bass (Sandies, White Bass) offer some great fishing action for anglers of all experience levels and are a great wat to take a fishing trip and typically catch some excellent numbers of fish in a days guided fishing trip with North Texas Catfish Guide Service, with an added bonus of catching Hybrid Striped Bass (Hybrid Stripers).
Sandbass (Sand Bass, White Bass) are well known for their feeding frenzies on Texas Lakes creating some very exciting fishing for Texas Anglers, and although Sand Bass (White Bass) do not grow to large size they are exciting to catch on ultralight tackle in some fast paced fishing action while they are feeding on shad on top of the water exploding the lakes surface or fishing around the feeding sea gulls. On our guided fishing trips for Sandbass (Sand Bass) we will use a number of different techniques for catching these fish including slabbing (fishing with slabs), casting, top water fishing, live bait fishing and trolling depending on the time of the year and what the most effective technique is for catching Sandbass is at that time. Daytime fishing trips are available at all times of the year but we also offer night fishing trips for Sandbass during the months of May, June, July, August and September. Night fishing for Sandbass fishing under lights or dock shooting can be a very productive means of catching a lot of great quality fishing during the heat of the summer.
Sandbass fishing trips with North Texas Catfish Guide Service are an excellent choice of guided fishing trip for families with children or large groups of inexperienced anglers.
Guided fishing trips for Sandbass (Sand Bass, White Bass) are best during the warmer months or April, May, June, July, August and September. While White Bass can be caught during the cooler months, the bite is typically much more subtle and the numbers of fish are generally nothing like they are in the wamrer months, plus during the cooler months we are usually busy with our popular Trophy Blue Catfish Fishing Trips. North Texas Catfish Guide Service offers Sandbass (Sand Bass, White Bass) fishing trips on Lake Lewisville, Eagle Mountain Lake, Cedar Creek Lake, Richland Chambers Reservoir, Lake Ray Roberts, Lake Grapevine, The Brazos River and Navarro Mills. Day or Night fishing trips are available for White Bass.
Hybrid Stripers are a cross between a Sand Bass and a Striped Bass. What results is a fish that grows very quickly in size, grows very large, and fights hard. Hybrid Striped Bass (Hybrids, Hybrid Stripers) are well known for their tremendous fight. Hybrids put up a great fight and there is definately no doubt when a big Hybrid Striper grabs the end of your fishing line, as they hit hard and they fight even harder, creating a very memorable fishing experience. Hybrid Striped Bass often feed in unisom with Sandbass but we can also take you on a guided fishing trip to specifically target Hybrids.
Fishing for Hybrid Striped Bass we will use a number of different techniques including Live Bait Fishing, Slabbin
g (fishing with slabs), top water fishing and trolling depending on the most effective technique at the time your fishing.
Hybrid Striped Bass fishing trips are available on Lake Lewisville, Cedar Creek Lake and, Richland Chambers Reservoir. These North Texas area lakes all have good to excellent populations fo Hybrid Striped Bass of good sizes due to some excellent and very agressive stocking programs from Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.
Day or Night fishing trips are available for Hybrid Striped Bass (Hybrids, Hybrid Stripers). Daytime fishing trips are good all year long and Night Fishing trips are good during May, June, July, August and September. Night fishing for Hybrid Striped Bass under lights or dock shooting for Hybrids can be an excellent way to catch some excellent numbers of BIG Hybrids during the summer while fishing with North Texas Catfish Guide Service.
If your interested in fishing for Hybrid Striped Bass or Sandbass with North Texas Catfish Guide Service give us a call and we would be happy to arrange your guided fishing trip for Sand Bass (White Bass) or Hybrid Striped Bass (Hybrids).
FRESHWATER REDFISH
FISHING FOR TEXAS FRESHWATER REDFISH

North Texas Catfish Guide Service offers guided fishing trips on Lake Fairfield for Freshwater Redfish. The Texas Gulf Coast has long been known as a hotspot for catching huge bull reds, but what many anglers do not know is that Texas Parks and Wildlife stocks the very same Redfish in some select North Texas area lakes, so you no longer have to drive to the Texas Gulf Coast to catch bull reds.
North Texas Catfish Guide Service offers guided fishing trips for Freshwater Redfish on Lake Fairfield and Tradinghouse Creek Reservoir in North Texas.
Redfish are a very sough after game fish and are well known for the tremendous fight they put up. When a big Redfish comes along and grabs the bait they hit like a freight train, and the fight that follows is sure to be a memorable one, so hold on.
Freshwater Redfish trips are available in May, June, July, August and September on Lake Fairfield and Tradinghouse Creek Reservoir. Guided fishing trips for Freshwater Redfish are typically done in the evening/night and while fishing for Freshwater Redfish with North Texas Catfish Guide Service anglers can expect to catch Freshwater Redfish, Channel Catfish and an occasional Flathead Catfish or Gar.
The Freshwater Redfish bite is heavily effected by moon phases so we try not to schedule guided fishing trips for Freshwater Redfish during a full moon phase for the best results. Contact North Texas Catfish Guide Service for more information.

April, things really get hopping. Generally April produces days that are second to none as far as numbers of Blue Catfish and quality of fish. As May approaches the weather really begins to warm up and in late May temperatures are usually rather warm. Catfishing typically remains good all of May with good numbers of blue catfish as well. FALL CATFISHING IN TEXAS

FISHING FOR CATFISH IN SEPTEMBER, OCTOBER AND NOVEMBER WITH NORTH TEXAS CATFISH GUIDE SERVICE
Fall marks the beginning of the cool water period and by early October the temperatures have generally begun to cool giving us a much needed break from the Texas heat. September still stays pretty hot and the fishing for catfish, white bass and hybrids generally remains goods. As water temperatures begin to cool in October the Blue Catfish generally really get fired up and begin heavily feeding for the upcoming cold water period. Mid to late October generally results in easy limits of Blue Catfish and some occasional bigger Trophy Catfish starting to be caught. As November approaches the water temperature really starts to drop and the fish will start stacking up and opportunities for Trophy Blue Catfish become much more possible. Good numbers of blue catfish and channel catfish can be expected and Trophy Blue Catfish can be expected depending on water temperatures and how quickly the weather cools off. Fall guided catfish fishing trips with North Texas Catfish Guide Service are day trips only. White Bass and Hybrids can be caught in good numbers during September and October but when the water temps cool of dramatically these fish become mush less agressive, but by this time we have focused our attentions on catching Trophy Blue Catfish almost exclusively. On or guided catfish fishing trips in the fall we will use a number of different techniques including shallow water fishing, fishing main lake structure, drift fishing for catfish (drifting), and even Cormorant Catfishing (fishing the water turkeys or "splat fishing" as some call it. In general the Fall is a very productive time for catfishing with North Texas Catfish Guide Service and is one of our more preferred times to fish for catfish on our catfishing guide trips.
