North Texas Catfish Guide Service News and Reports
November
29 2006
The
big blue catfish are biting well. We have caught numerous trophy
catfish on Lake Lewisville and Cedar Creek Lake ovr the past wek, with
most of the fish running between 20 and 30 lbs. Fishing was much better
with the cooler weather early in the week but we have still been
producing big fish each day with no problems. We have a cold front
coming in tonight and the temperature is supposed to be below freezing
for the next four days which should really fire up the big blue
catfish. We have dates available for December, Janaury and February for
Trophy Catfishing. Call for details.
November
22, 2006
Yesterday
was a bit slower than previous days have been this week and late last
week. We still managed 6 big blue catfish between 12 and 23 lbs and
lost one at the side of the boat that was close to 35 lbs. We have one
boat open for Lake Lewisville this Sunday and one boat open for
Lewisville or Cedar Creek on Sunday.

Trophy
Catfishing is in FULL SWING. If you want to catch a BIG MONSTER TEXAS
BLUE CATFISH ON ROD AND REEL then now is the time to do so. Fishing for
Trophy Blue Catfish will be good from now to the end of February on
Lake Lewisville and Cedar Creek Lake. Give us a call at 817-946-1777 or
817-306-0055 to book a winter trophy blue catfish fishing trip.
Fish
in the twenty to thirty pound range are very common right now. This
week has also resulted in several in the high thirties and we even
landed a bleu catfish that weighed in at 64.3 lbs which is just a few
ounced shy of the current Lake Lewisville record.
We
are in the process of rebuilding this website. You can view the new
site at www.txcatfishguide.com/REDOINDEX2.htm
we are also going to be maintaining two other websites as well at www.lewisvillefishingguide.com
and www.cedarcreekfishingguide.com
We
have some new videos online now as well. You can watch our catfishing
videos free on our catfish
videos page.

The
white bass (sandbass) and hybrid striped bass fishing on Lewisville has
been insane. The bite does not get any better than it is right now.
Very exciting and 100+ fish trips are easy in the mornings with very
little effort. I finally got the opportunity to do some catfishing also
this weekend and we managed some nice Blue Catfish also. If your
interested in getting in on a Lake Lewisville White Bass, Lake
Lewisville Hybrid Striped Bass, Or Lake Lewisville Catfish fishing trip
before the weather starts to cool off just give me a call at
817-946-1777.

Two
new videos have been uploaded - Scooter
Catches Winter Trophy Flathead Catfish - and Larry
Hamner of Waxahachie Texas Catches 34.3 Lb Trophy Blue Catfish
these are both good videos that show a good example of some winter
Trophy Catfishing action.

Lake
Lewisville White Bass and Hybrid Striped Bass fishing is still
excellent. If you want to catch some good numbers of fish and some pole
bender hybrids now is a great time to do so. Lake Lewisville Blue
Catfish seem to be starting to produce some catches, but things are
going to have to cool off some for things to really get fired up. I
will post some photos of the new Lake Fairfield record Flathead Catfish
we caught soon. I just need to get some time to get them added to the
website. Lake Fairfield is producing nice redfish, flathead catfish and
channel catfish on our Lake Fairfield guided fishing trips.
August
7th 2006
Jackie
and Joe Moore caught a new Lake Fairfield Flathead Catfish on August
5th that more than doubled the existing record on Lake Fairfield. The
fish weighed in at 39.5 Lbs. I will post some pictures later on. I have
not done any updated in a while because I spent a week at the coast in
Port Bolivar (Crystal Beach) catching sharks and redfish and having
some down time. I will post some pictures and information soon, I am
gettingf some reports of some nice blue catfish being caught on
Lewisville. I am going to try and do some catfishing later this week.
The catfish bite should start picking up soon. We are already getting a
lot of calls on Trophy Blue Catfish Trips for December, January and
February so I suggest calling early if you want to get in on some of
the Trophy Catfishing action this winter.

Lake
Lewisvile White Bass(Sandbass) are still biting good as well as the
Lake Lewisville Hybrids. The weather seems to be effecting them some as
we have had a few off days when the wind has died on us and fishing has
not been as good on Lake Lewisville but all in all things have been
excellent for white bass and hybrid striped bass. Jackie is still
fishing Fairfield and producing good catches of Redfish and Flathead
Catfish most evenings. Ran a catfish trip on Lake Lewisville this week
and the catfish had lockjaw but should start picking up soon.

The
White Bass (Sandbass) Fishing in Lake Lewisville and Hybrid Striped
Bass fishing on Lake Lewisville has been excellent. If you want to take
a trip and catch a LOT of fish in a short amount of time then right now
is a great time to do so. We are also catching a lot of white bass on
topwaters which is a lot if fun and very exciting way to fish. Hybrid
Striped Bass to 23 have been pretty consistant. I had one trip early
this week where I hooked a hybrid that was 18" or over on every cast
for nine casts in a row. The White Bass and Hybrid Striped Bass guided
fishing trips on Lake Lewisville are lot's of fun, and we can fish in
the early morning or late evening so it is not to hot and we can stay
off the water during the heat of the day. I have also been setting out
some juglines anc catching Blue Catfish to 25 Lbs on Juglines as well
if anyone is interested in a Jug Fishing Trip with North Texas Catfish
Guide Service. I also had another client catch a holstein catfish on
Lake Lewisville this past weekend that went about 2 pounds. This is the
second Holstein Catfish I have caught at Lake Lewisville this year.
Jackie is running Redfish Trips at Lake Fairfield and the Redfish are
biting excellent. He is also catchinng some Lake Fairfield Channel
Catfish and Yellow Catfish in addition to the Lake Fairfield Freshwater
Redfish. If anyone is interested in a trip for August just give me a
call at 817-946-1777 and we can get something set up. We still have
available dates open for August. We are also starting to get a lot of
calls about Fall Cormorant Catfishing Trips and Winter Trophy Blue
Catfish Trips as well and these dates are starting to book up. If your
interested in a Winter Trophy Blue Catfish Fishing Trip just give me a
call or email me.

We
are in the process of editing and uploading a bunch of videos that we
have been wanting to get online for a couple of years. We finally found
a host that we can use to host the videos where it does not cost us
hundreds of dollars to have these videos online. It is a slow process
trying to get all of these edited and added to the website but we are
making some progress. Be sure to keep an eye on our Free
Catfishing Videos Page
for the videos we have up and like I said we will be working on adding
more videos as well over the next few months and will try to add a
couple of new videos each week. We have already added the Catfishing
Video Claude Jones Lands a 50 Lb Texas Flathead Catfish which
is a video of a Flathead Catfish that was caught on Cedar Creek Lake in
the early spring that went just a little shy of 50 Lbs, Running
The Lake with North Texas Catfish Guide Service
is a short video of our Catfish Fishing Guide Boats running across the
water in pursuit of Trophy Blue Catfish on a Winter Morning, we get a
lot of questions from new clients about what kind of Catfishing Guide
Boat we use on our North Texas guided fishing trips so we have added a Video
Tour of one of our Fishing Guide Boats. Trophy
Catfish Release is a short video clip releasing a Trophy Blue
Catfish back into the Lake, Surfacing
Gar
is a video that shows hundreds of surfacing longnose gar on Lake
Lewisville that were feeding on top and reallyu putting on a show, this
is just an example of what we encounter on our guided fishing trips for
Gar in North Texas, Catching
Sandbass and
Hybrid Striped Bass is a short Video of some clients catching white
bass (sandbass, sandies) on one of our North Texas Guided Fishing
Trips, Surfacing
White Bass
is a short video of Lake Lewisville Sandbass (Sandies, White Bass)
schooling in a Topwater Feeding Frenzy on Lake Lewisville. There is a
ton of free catfishing videos (catfish videos), sandbass videos, hybrid
striped bass videos, gar videos and freshwater redfish videos to be
added to the website so like I said check back often. We are also going
to tro to add some short clips from some of our television shows with
Fox Sports Southwest - Toyota Truck's Southwest Outdoors Report with
Barry Stokes, The Diva's in The Outdoors Televison Show with the Texas
Divas (Both the Catfish Contest Show and The Trophy Blue Catfish Show),
The Trophy Catfishing Show with Bonita Staples, and some of the other
great catfishing TV shows we have done over the past few years. We are
also going to be shooting some more TV shows soon, so hopefully we can
add them as well.
July

White
Bass and Hybrid Striped Bass and Catfisb are still excellent on Lake
Lewisville. The White Bass and Hybrid Striped Bass bite has been more
consistant than the catfish bite. Redfish are good during the day and
at night at Lake Fairfield. Have dates available for July.
July
1st through 5th 2006
The White Bass
Fishing and Hybrid Striped Bass Fishing on Lake
Lewisville has been AWESOME. If your looking to get out and catch a lot
of fish in a very short amount of time and have a great day on the
water now is a great time to do so. The fishing for Freshwater Redfish
on Lake Fairfield has been great also. We have full day and half day
trips available for Lewisville, Cedar Creek and Fairfield for July and
August for White Bass, Hybrid Striped Bass, Redfish and Blue Catfish.
For more information call 817-946-1777 or 817-306-0055.

We
are just about finished with the website redesign. The new webpages for
North Texas Catfish Guide Service are started to be added to the
internet. We will have a lot of new pictures, videos and updated
information available on the website redesign.
April
6th 2006
I
have not had time to keep up with this page lately, things have been
hectic so I will hit the highlights from the last few months.
Fishing
is excellent right now and will be good through the Middle of may for
Blue Catfish. We are limiting out daily and catching some trophy
catfish as well. We are limited on available days but do still have
some openings.
A
client of North Texas Catfish Guide Service caught a new Cedar Creek
Lake record blue catfish last month. I will post an update here soon
with all the specs and photos on this big Texas catfish.
We
are now offering trips for Hybrid Striped Bass and Sandbass and Gar in
addition to Blue Catfish, Channel Catfish and Yellow Catfish. If your
interested in fishing for Hybrid Striped Bass and Sandbass give us a
shout.
We
have done several TV shows this winter and I will post information as I
have time but we have a show running right now with Diva's in the
Outdoors on the Mens Channel that we filmed while Trophy Catfishing, we
also did a spring catfishing show with the Divas in the Outdoors as
well and it will air in the near future.

Weldon
Kirk fished with North Texas Catfish Guide Service at Lake Limestone.
First trip at Limestone in a long while. Managed a few bigger fish but
nothing huge.

January
7 2006
Had
a last minute cancellation today and got to fish for fun for the first
time in a long time with Jackie Kennedy my partner in North Texas
Catfish Guide Service. We fished Cedar Creek Lake and the bite was a
little slow today, we only managed 4 fish, 29 Lbs, 23 Lbs, 22 Lbs and 8
Lbs.

January
6 2006
Fishing
for BIG TEXAS CATFISH is still pretty good. We are steadily catching
good fish with most days averaging about 5 fish over 25 lbs. We are
also catching some nice flathead catfish in addition to the Trophy Blue
Catfish. Willard Brockington fished today with North Texas Catfish
Guide service and caught his personal best of 28 Lbs today. Rod and
Reel fishing for Trophy blue catfish is great!

January
5 2006
Chuck
Kruse fished today with North Texas Catfish Guide Service and had an
awesome day fishing for Trophy Blue Catfish. Total count for the day
was almost 30 Trophy Blue Catfish and we even had a flathead catfish
mixed in the bunch. If you want to get out and do some fishing for Big
Texas Catfish then now is the time to do so!

January
4 2006
Still
catching big catfish. We have some days available still for January and
February Trophy Catfish Trips.

January
1 2006
Ringing
in the new year with some huge catfish. The fish have turned back on.
It is still really hot out but we are managing some nice fish again,
and still we have no rain. The lakes are dropping fast and conditions
are getting bad. I will be running my Lake Lewisville guided catfish
fishing trips out of Tower Bay until further notice. Cedar Creek guided
catfish fishing trips and Lake Texoma guided catfish fishing trips will
still be at the same locations.

December
30th 2005
Fished
today filming a TV show. The fish are trying to get back into a pattern
and we caught a bunch of really good sized box fish from 8-10 lbs but
did not manage any big fish today. I expect things to get back going
again any day now. I have been on a roll with pictures lately but did
not get to take any today because of the TV Cameras rolling. Here is a
picture of me cleaning fish for the TV Crew.

December
28th 2005
Tough
day again on the lake. They fish were shut down on us again. Still way
to hot for this time of year. I did manage to get some fish in the boat
towards the end of the trip including a 26 Lb flathead catfish and a
few 10 Lb blue catfish.

December
27th 2005
Still
a tough day fishing with high winds. We managed one good fish and some
box fish but the warm front has definately effected the fish. The air
temp has been running in the mid 70's and low 80's which is very
unusual for this time of year.

December
26th 2005
We
had a warm front roll in last night and wind was blowing 30+ mile an
hour. Fish were very scattered on Lake Lewisville and we called it a
day early because they bite was bad.
December
25th 2005
Fishing
has been good. We are catching a lot of nice trophy catfish from 20-50
lbs. Fishing has been steady and we have been averaging 5-15 fish a
trip. Here are some from today 12/25/05

December
19th 2005
Trophy
Catfishing has been good as long as the weather is good and nasty. The
blue bird days with warm weather, no wind and no clouds always make
fishing tough in the winter. Fishing will get better the colder it gets
and the nastier the weather gets. We have not been catching a lot of
big fish but have been consistant with the 20-35 lb fish for the last
couple of weeks. We have some dates open still for December and January
if anyone wants to get out on Lewisville on Cedar Creek for some Trophy
Catfish. Here are some photos of some recent blue catfish we have
caught.

December
19th 2005
We
have a new hook we are using for Big Catfish. Mustad 39951 Ultra Demon
Light Wire Circle Hook Size 10/0. This is an EXCELLENT hook for Trophy
Catfish and we have yet to miss a fish with one of these hooks. I have
never been a big fan of circle hooks but these Mustad 39951BLN hooks
have definately changed my mind about circle hooks. If your after
smaller "box fish" the the Mustad Wide Gap Kahle hook seems to perform
better but for Big Catfish this hooks is definately a winner.

December
13th 2005
We
have another cool front scheduled to come through later this week with
more chances of snow. Fishing should be excellent late this week and
through the weekend for Trophy Catfish. We have availability on Friday
and also some openings next week for Trophy Catfish on Cedar Creek,
Lake Lewisville and Texoma.
December
11 th 2005
The
fishing was tough today on the lake. We launched this morning and it
was warm and there was no wind and no clouds, one of those tough blue
bird days. By 11:00 we were all in jeans and t-shirts and were burning
up. I went and caught bait very quickly this morning with no trouble
and had a few minutes to fish on my own before my clients showed up so
I went and anchored up and managed a nice 18 Lb Flathead Catfish. Had a
tough day fishing with my clients and the biggest fish we could manage
was a 14 Lb Blue Catfish, but we landed it on one of my GRX Steelhead
rods so that was fun. Some of my clients have asked me about shad and
how big they get so I snapped a photo of a larger shad that I caught
while catching bait in my cast net this weekend so folks could see just
how big shad get.

December
10 th 2005
The
fishing has really picked up with the cold front we had. We missed a
few days fishing because of the ice and snow and freezing temperatures
(it was 6 degrees yesterday morning) but now that we are back on the
water fishing has been good. We are starting to catch some trophy
catfish and the fish are stacking up well. The fishing should stay good
for the rest of the winter. As a general rule, the fishing for Trophy
Blue Catfish will be excellent as long as the weather is good and
nasty. Typically the worse the weather is the better the fishing will
be. If it is cold and cloudy and rainy and windy fishing is usually
excellent. If it is a bluebird day with clear skies, warm temperatures
and no wind then the fishing will be tough. We managed a 31 Lb blue cat
today and a handful of box fish and also lost another good one.

December
6 th 2005
The
blue catfish bite has been fast and furious. Fishing is excellent right
now and should be good as long things stay cool and we have wind.
Trophy catfish have been scattered but with temps forecasted in the
20's to 30's for the next two days it should stack the fish up and make
the trophy catfishing excellent. Lewisville has been very tough and the
fishing has been poor but should pick up soon. We have some available
dates for December and January for Trophy Catfish Trips.
