Spring has sprung, and some of the best catfish action of the year is here. As the days grow longer and the water warms, the next three to four months bring some of my favorite blue and channel catfish fishing of the year.

March marks the start of an exciting season. The water comes alive with blue and channel catfish, and whether you're after quantity or size, March offers a great mix of both.
It's an excellent month to catch numbers of blue catfish, and for the first few weeks you still have a chance at a monster trophy blue catfish mixed in with the numbers. Many March days are some of the most action-packed fishing of the year, and these patterns are a blast to fish.
The Best Month for Numbers of Blues.
In April, things kick into high gear. It's hands down the best month of the year if you want to hook into crazy numbers of blue catfish, and it's some of the most action-packed fishing we do all year.

Big, Fat Channel Catfish.
The blue catfish action usually winds down in late April or early May, but the fun doesn't stop. May brings one of the best chances of the year to target big channel catfish in shallow water, using another unique pattern.
With the water warming and the fish more active, May is a prime window for big, fat channel cats. It's another pattern that's an absolute blast to fish.
